Subproject B04 Adhesive-based assembly processes

In this subproject the influence of an XHV-adequate atmosphere on the reaction behaviour of adhesives is investigated and new bonding processes will be developed. The objective is to influence the pot life or the curing time by regulating the oxygen content of the environment, and thus, to enable a new kind of process control. In addition, adhesive bonds are produced and characterized in an XHV-adequate atmosphere. The characterization is based on mechanical properties, such as the tensile strength, and on surface-physical methods in order to build up an understanding of the adhesion mechanisms.
