Subproject C04 Cooling concepts for Grinding

The objective of this subproject is the development of a model that describes the relationship and interactions between the grinding wheel production process, the grinding wheel properties and its application behaviour as a function of the physical and chemical surroundings. For this purpose, studies under XHV-adequate atmosphere on grinding wheel production will be carried out in order to investigate chemical processes during sintering and their effect on the mechanical and physical properties of the grinding wheels. In addition, the material behaviour of oxygen-affine workpieces is correlated with the performance and properties of the tools during grinding.
